(April 1, 2025, Edmonton, AB) – Servus Credit Union Ltd. is pleased to announce that at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on March 5, 2025, members voted 91% in favour of a Special Resolution to change the credit union’s legal name (Connect First and Servus Credit Union Ltd.) to align with its trade name (Servus Credit Union).
As required per the Alberta Credit Union Act, Treasury Board and Finance has approved Servus’ new Certificate of Registration.
"This alignment creates a more cohesive member experience, eliminates additional paperwork for members and staff, and avoids significant costs for the organization,” says Ian Burns, President and CEO of Servus. "It also ensures a consistent name across all interactions, simplifying our operations and making it easier to do business with us. This means we can focus our time and resources on where it is most important, which is serving our members across the province."
The legal name “Connect First and Servus Credit Union Ltd.” was originally adopted following the merger with connectFirst Credit Union on May 1, 2024. It was intended to be used temporarily until the new organization decided on its brand name. The official brand name, Servus Credit Union, was announced on January 7, 2025.
The 2025 AGM marked the first for the organization since its merger. As one of the largest and strongest credit unions in Canada, Servus now serves over 500,000 Albertans with a network of 148 branches. In December 2024, the credit union shared $88 million in profits with members across Alberta.
